Is it really free? What's the catch?
No catch. The free tier is permanently free. We earn a small fee when your clients pay invoices online via Stripe 0.5%, min £1, max £20. If you get paid by bank transfer, we make nothing and that's fine. The Business plan (£120/year) is optional and adds reporting, exports and branding features.
What if I don't use Stripe payments?
No problem at all. You can use BFSB entirely for free and get paid via bank transfer, no platform fee, no charges. Stripe payments are opt-in. Enable or disable them anytime from your settings.
Will the free tier get worse over time?
No. The free tier is sustainable because Stripe payment fees support it — not because we need to convert free users. We're not burning investment money hoping to squeeze you later. Early adopters get the same model everyone else gets.
What's included in the assisted data migration?
Business plan members can send their existing expenses data to [email protected] and we'll import it for you within 7 working days. You'll receive a confirmation email once everything is in your account.
Can I cancel the Business plan anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from your account settings. Your account reverts to the free tier at the end of your billing period and your data stays intact. There's no contract and no cancellation fee.
What's your refund policy?
We offer a 7-day full refund on the Business plan from the date of purchase. Assisted data migration is excluded from the refund once the import has been completed. See our full refund policy for details.
Is it suitable for someone running a business alone?
Absolutely, that's exactly who it's built for. Sole traders, freelancers, and micro-businesses with 1–5 people get the most out of BFSB. No accountancy knowledge needed to get started.
Do you support UK payroll and VAT?
VAT-compliant invoices are included on the free tier. Full UK PAYE, NI and RTI support is coming soon. The payroll system currently supports PDF payslips, staff management and remittance for up to 15 staff on the free plan.
