Cookie Policy

Effective Date: 24 March 2026
Last Updated: 24 March 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use on builtforsmallbusiness.com, why we use them, and how you can control them.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data more broadly.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device, computer, tablet, or mobile when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as whether you are logged in, your preferences, and how you use the site.

Cookies can be:

  • Session cookies — temporary files that are deleted automatically when you close your browser
  • Persistent cookies — files that remain on your device for a set period of time, or until you delete them
  • First-party cookies — placed directly by builtforsmallbusiness.com
  • Third-party cookies — placed by external services we use, such as payment processors

2. How We Obtain Your Consent

When you first visit builtforsmallbusiness.com, a cookie consent banner is displayed at the bottom of the screen. You have two options:

  • Accept all — you consent to both essential cookies and analytics cookies
  • Essential only — you consent to essential cookies only, and no analytics cookies will be set

We record your choice in your browser's local storage under the key bf_cookie_consent. This record allows us to remember your preference so we do not ask you again on subsequent visits.

We do not set non-essential cookies before you make a choice. Analytics cookies are only initialised after you click Accept all. If you click Essential only, no analytics cookies are set during your visit.

You may change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or cookie data and revisiting the site, which will cause the consent banner to reappear.

3. Cookies We Use

3.1 Essential Cookies (Always Active)

These cookies are strictly necessary for builtforsmallbusiness.com to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core platform features, such as login, security, and session management.

3.2 Analytics Cookies (Requires Consent)
These cookies help us understand how visitors use our platform so we can improve it. They collect aggregated and anonymised information about page views, feature usage, and session behaviour. No personal data is identified or shared for advertising purposes.

Analytics cookies are only set if you click Accept all on the consent banner. They are not set if you choose Essential only.

We do not currently use Facebook Pixel. If this changes, we will update this policy and obtain fresh consent before any new analytics tools are activated.

3.3 Payment Processing
When you use Stripe to make or receive payments through BFSB, Stripe may set its own cookies or use local storage as part of its secure payment processing flow. These are necessary for payment functionality and operate under Stripe's own Privacy Policy.

We do not use PayPal or any other payment processor on this platform.

4. What We Do Not Use

To be completely clear about our current cookie practices:

  • We do not use Facebook Pixel or any Meta advertising cookies
  • We do not use any remarketing or behavioural tracking cookies
  • We do not sell or share cookie data with third parties for commercial purposes

5. How to Manage Your Cookie Preferences

Through the consent banner: Visit any page on builtforsmallbusiness.com, clear your browser's local storage (instructions below), and the consent banner will reappear, allowing you to make a new choice.

Through your browser settings: All major browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies and local storage. Here is how to do it in the most common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data

Please note that disabling essential cookies will affect your ability to log in and use the BFSB platform.

Third-party opt-outs: If you wish to opt out of analytics tracking more broadly, tools such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on and browser privacy extensions can help, although these are not specific to BFSB.

6. Local Storage

In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage to store your consent preferences (bf_cookie_consent and bf_privacy_accepted). Local storage is similar to cookies, but is stored differently, it does not expire automatically and is not transmitted to our servers with each request.

We use local storage only to remember your consent choices. We do not use it to track your behaviour or store personal information.

You can clear local storage through your browser settings in the same way as cookies (see Section 5 above).

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example, if we introduce new features, add new third-party services, or if regulatory requirements change.

When we make material changes, such as introducing a new analytics tool or changing how consent is collected, we will reset the consent banner so that all users are asked to make a fresh choice. We will also update the effective date at the top of this page.
