Is BFSB really free forever? What's the catch?
Yes, genuinely. There is no trial period, no hidden tier, and no credit card required to get started. Invoicing, expenses, client management, and payroll are free forever — no time limit, no feature lock, no catch.
We built BFSB because business software has been overpriced for small businesses for too long. Our model is simple, we only earn in three ways: When your clients pay invoices online via Stripe, we charge a 0.5% platform fee (min £1, max £20). If you never use online payments, BFSB costs you nothing.
Our optional Business Plan at £120 per year unlocks full tax year exports, accountant-ready reports with HMRC-aligned breakdowns, removal of BFSB branding from all invoices and payroll documents, payroll beyond 15 staff, and an advanced reporting suite. We also earn through affiliate partnerships with trusted tools and services we recommend. Never hidden, never pushy. Your data is never sold. That is it. No surprises.
How long does it take to set up my account?
Most users create their account and send their first invoice within 15 minutes. There is no lengthy onboarding, no setup wizard to complete, and no training required. Create an account, add a client, add your line items and send. That's it.
How do I enable Stripe payments on my invoices?
Go to your company settings, click on Invoice setting, then Invoice payment setting and connect your Stripe account. Once connected, a Pay Now button will appear on invoices you send to clients. Your client clicks it, pays by card, and the money goes directly to your Stripe account minus fees. You can enable or disable online payments at any time.
Is BFSB payroll compliant ?
For UK businesses, you can generate clean, professional payslips and manage staff, remittance, and adjustments today. Automated PAYE, National Insurance, and RTI submission to HMRC are in active development and coming soon. When live, your payroll will automatically upgrade to include full UK compliance, no migration, no extra cost. For businesses outside the UK and Nigeria, payslip generation and staff management work fully. Country-specific statutory calculations will be added as we expand
For Nigerian businesses, BFSB is fully compliant with NTA 2025 PAYE tax bands and current statutory rates for pension, NHF, and NHIS. Payslips include employer declarations and are designed to be audit-ready for FIRS documentation. We update the system whenever Nigerian tax rules change so you don't have to.
Where is my data stored and who can access it?
Your data is stored on secure servers with 256-bit AES encryption. Only you and anyone you explicitly grant access to can see your business data. BFSB staff do not access your account data unless you contact support and specifically request assistance.
Are invoices and payslips audit-ready?
Yes. All issued invoices include your business details, client details, line items, VAT breakdown, payment status and timestamps. All issued payslips include gross pay, statutory deductions, PAYE, pension, NHF, employer declarations and issue dates. Both are locked once issued so the record cannot be altered retroactively exactly what an auditor or accountant needs.
Is BFSB registered and legitimate?
Yes. Built For Small Business is operated by a registered business with a verifiable trading history. We are integrated with Stripe, which requires identity verification and compliance checks before approving any platform, adding an additional layer of accountability.
Our Nigerian entity is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission under RC 8963359, verifiable directly at icrp.cac.gov.ng. We operate across both the UK and Nigerian markets and are committed to maintaining the trust of businesses in both regions.
Is BFSB available outside Nigeria?
Yes. BFSB is built primarily for UK and Nigerian small businesses, with everything else working globally. Invoicing, expense tracking, client management, and payslip generation work for any business, anywhere in the world.
For UK businesses. VAT-compliant invoices, UK tax year filtering (April to March), HMRC expense category breakdown, and full export-ready reports are all included. UK PAYE and National Insurance calculations are in development.
For Nigerian businesses, full NTA 2025-compliant payroll including automated PAYE, pension, NHF, and NHIS is live and audit-ready.
